Multiple PhD Positions: The Ubiquitous Embedded Intelligence Lab, in Purdue School at Indianapolis, has multiple openings for PhD students in single or multidisciplinary areas. We are focusing on cutting-edge research in AI, Edge Computing, Embedded System, Data Science, Hardware, Wearable Computer, IoT, Smart Health, Smart World, etc. Application from CS, ECE, BME or related areas is welcome. He spent six years in industry to R&D high-performance and energy-efficient products. As a senior system architect and team lead, he was responsible for multi-layer co-design of algorithm/software/hardware for advanced big data and computing architectures, resulting in seven commercialized patents. He afterwards worked at Harvard to research AI & Wearable Computing Innovations for Big Data-driven Precision Health. By innovatively bridging AI, Edge Computing and Wearable Computers, the UbiEi Lab (Ubiquitous Embedded Intelligence Lab), led by Prof. Zhang, is researching, developing, and validating next-generation big data paradigms. He also receives NSF Career Award to advance the cutting-edge research. Campus Introduction: The Electrical and Computer Engineering department is in Purdue School of Engineering and Technology, on the joint Indianapolis campus of Purdue and Indiana University. PhD degree is awarded by Purdue University. Expectation on Applicants: Students from broad EECS schools and departments or related areas are welcome to contact our lab for further information. Applicants are expected to have basic knowledge of one or more areas listed above, and more importantly, have a great passion on cutting-edge research. The Ph.D. position will be fully funded as Research Assistant, covering monthly salary, medical insurance and tuition. The openings are for 21Fall. Indianapolis Area: Indianapolis is the fourth largest state capital in US. It is also the 12th largest city in US, just after Chicago in the middle-west. It has convenient transportation to neighbor cities, like 2 hour 40 min to Chicago. The large Indianapolis area has about 1million people, with many international students, engineers, scientists and residents. |
