One opening position for Postdoctoral Research Associate is available in Dr. Yichen Ding's Lab in the Department of Bioengineering at UT Dallas / Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Ding has made substantial contributions to the field of biomedical engineering. Specifically, Dr. Ding's specialized research has focused on the development of novel optical imaging techniques along with computational methods for cardiovascular study. With special emphasis on ventricular contractility, Dr. Ding established an interdisciplinary platform including light-sheet imaging-based acquisition, machine learning-based image segmentation, virtual reality-based interactive visualization, and displacement vector-based regional quantification. His research addresses the most pressing issues in understanding cardiac injury and regeneration in both fundamental and clinical fields. Dr. Ding believes the integration of genetic models with advanced imaging and computation will provide new mechanical and developmental insights into cardiac contractility and ventricular remodeling. Dr. Ding was a recipient of the National Institute of Health Pathway to Independence Award (2019) and the American Heart Association Career Development Award (2018). He is also a member of several professional societies, inventor or co-inventor of seven patents, and author or co-author of more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific publications. Interested candidates please visit https://be.utdallas.edu//people/faculty/yichen-ding/ The Department of Bioengineering at UT Dallas offers a joint program with UT Southwestern Medical Center. The relationship between UT Dallas and UT Southwestern provides trainees with unique opportunities to collaborate on research in basic science through clinical translations, as well as opportunities to be involved in the creation of new high-tech companies. The program emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach, combining expertise in engineering and life sciences. Who are we looking for: Research associate: Highly motivated candidates with a strong background in one or more of the following areas: biochemistry, biophysics, cell biology, molecular biology, and mechanobiology are encouraged to apply. The candidate must also have enthusiasm, excellent critical thinking skills, a track-record of productivity as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications, an ability to work well both independently and as part of a team, and proficiency in written and oral English communication. Prior experience with optical imaging, ultrasound, tissue clearing, cardiac injury/repair, and zebrafish/rodents would be an advantage. What will we offer: A successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research projects in a world-class research environment while obtaining valuable experience with the relevant technology that prepares well for future positions in academia or industry. We will also provide a customizable curriculum, individual career development/support, and Interdisciplinary and collaborative research community. To apply, please send 1)a cover letter with a brief statement of research experience and future proposed interests, 2)a detailed curriculum vitae to: Yichen Ding, Ph.D. Assistant Professor Department of Bioengineering UT Dallas / Southwestern Medical Center Richardson, TX 75080-3021 Tel: 972-883-7217 Email: Yichen.Ding@utdallas.edu |
