The reader will need some background knowledge. The book is intended for final year students in metallurgy or engineering, for those researching in castings, and for casting engineers and all associated with foundries that have to make a living creating castings. This text deals only with the technical issues of the quest for good castings. Without good castings it is not easy to see what future a casting operation can have. The production of good castings can be highly economical and rewarding.
