|
PhD candidate positions are available immediately in the research group led by Prof. Dr. –Ing. Kai Strunz (https://www.sense.tu-berlin.de/menue/start/) in the Department of Energy and Automation Technology at the Technische Universität Berlin. Prof. Strunz is recipient of IEEE PES Prize Paper Award 2015, the Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics First Prize Paper Award 2015, the 2020 best paper award in the field of electric machines and drives by IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, and many other international awards. Prof. Strunz is chairman of the IEEE PES Subcommittee on Distributed Generation & Energy Storage. Professor Strunz’s group focuses on modeling of integration of renewable energy, solutions for global energy network and electricity markets, innovative methods of simulation and optimization for the planning and operation of energy internet, as well as MMC-HVDC transmission. Research can be implemented and verified in Smart Grid lab. The current research interests include, but are not limited to, 1) Modelling and real-time simulation of networks with high share of renewable energy; 2) Modeling and stability analysis of multi-energy system; 3) Transient stability and frequency variation mitigation of power electronic converters dominated power system; 4) Operation and control of smart grids and micro-grids. Creative and highly motivated applicants are encouraged to apply. A master degree in the fields related to Electrical Engineering is required. A background in power system, power electronic or renewable energy sources would be an advantage. German is preferred but not necessary, because group meeting is normally carried out with English. Applications, including a motivation letter, full CV, list of publications, summary of research experience, skills and the names and addresses should be sent by email to the Prof. Strunz (kai.strunz@tu-berlin.de). |
