 ucl department / division chemical engineeringlocation of position london grade 7 hours full time salary (inclusive of london allowance)￡36,028 - ￡43,533 per annum duties and responsibilities ucl chemical engineering is a world-leading centre for research in electrochemical technology, an appointment is sought for a post-doctoral researcher to develop novel li-ion battery technologies based on advanced manufacturing routes, and apply diagnostic techniques including x-ray imaging and advanced electrochemical characterisation to understand their modes of operation. the key role of the post holder will be to perform leading research to prepare and investigate the properties of electrode materials for advanced li-ion batteries and to evaluate the role of novel manufacturing methods on the battery performance. the position will be based in the electrochemical innovation lab in the department of chemical engineering on the bloomsbury campus of ucl. the post is funded by research grant “next generation electrodes (nextrode)” that is provided by the faraday institution, the uk’s independent institute for electrochemical energy storage research and skills development. the faraday institution vision is to bring together scientists and industry partners on research projects to reduce battery cost, weight, and volume; to improve performance and reliability. the overall aim of the nextrode project is to seize the emergent opportunity in the manufacture of smart electrodes by investigating: (i) the underlying reasons why current li ion battery electrode performance in practice falls well short of theory, (ii) novel approaches to electrode design that can overcome these restrictions, and (iii) how these designs can be realised at a scale and cost that makes them attractive to industry. duration of the post is funded until march 2022 in the first instance. key requirements this is a unique opportunity for a dynamic and ambitious experimental researcher with interests in batteries, energy materials, materials characterisation and electrochemistry to undertake a research position as part of a leading team of researchers funded by innovate uk. the successful candidate will have significant experience in a research environment. knowledge of advanced batteries, x-ray imaging and other material characterisation techniques is a strong advantage. you should hold (or shortly expect to obtain) a phd in chemical engineering, chemistry, physics, materials science or a closely related discipline. you must be motivated, independent and hard-working with a strong research/technical background in areas relevant to this project: materials and electrode processing, electrochemical methods, materials characterisation. peer reviewed publications in relevant fields are a requirement. appointment at grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a phd; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at grade 6b (salary ￡31,542- ￡33,257 per annum) with payment at grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the phd thesis). further details a job description and person specification can be accessed at the bottom of this page. to apply for the vacancy please click on the ‘apply now’ button below. if you have any queries regarding the vacancy or the application process, please contact prof paul shearing p.shearing@ucl.ac.uk. ucl taking action for equality closing date19 jan 2021 申请已经截止！！！申请已经截止！！！申请已经截止！！！ [ Last edited by 不断超越 on 2021-1-22 at 17:55 ] |
