Full-time Lab Technician/Research Assistant in Lab. of Precise Catalytic Organic Transformations (Prof. Sehoon Park)

Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) is a state-of-the-art research university (https://www.gtiit.edu.cn/en) recently established by the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (Haifa, Israel), Shantou University, the Li Ka-shing foundation and the government in Shantou, China. Technion is a world-leading institute of higher education with three Nobel laureates and remains top 50 in global research-based university rankings.

The Park group in Chemistry program is looking for a full-time Lab Technician/Research Assistant to manage and support the Park’s laboratory. The Park group’s research goal is to develop homogeneous catalytic systems for selective transformations of naturally abundant, but inert molecules including simple (hetero)aromatics, alkanes, alkenes, and CO2 to provide valuable synthetic feedstocks. Our first research target is to enable the metal-free or non-precious metal-catalyzed dehydrogenative C-H functionalizations of alkanes and (hetero)arenes with inexpensive coupling reagents such as organosilicon and organoborane. The second project is to synthesize finely-tuned and distinctive olefin polymers by applying new polymerization catalysts or unique olefin monomers.

Job Requirements
· BS or higher degrees in Chemistry or Chemical engineering.
· More than two years of experience in engineering and/or chemical laboratory using technical lab equipment, glove box, HPLC, GPC, GC-MS, vacuum lines, and chemical reagents.
· Demonstrated knowledge of basic tools and simple rework, including chemical reaction operation, reaction and chemical safety, organizing chemicals, managing IT networks, and operating several equipment.
· Good knowledge of spoken and written English as well as communication skills.
· Basic knowledge of Word and Excel to create documents and ability to learn new software.

Job Functions
· Operate and maintain test equipment, arrange conference/academic travel/meetings, and administrations related to research
· Order and receive chemicals and equipment, and install and adjust equipment and parts.
· Manage safety procedures, and demonstrate the laboratory equipment for the group members.

Benefits:
· Base salary: US$14,000~22,000/year for 2 years (can be renewed upon mutual agreement)
· Subsidized housing at GTIIT (500 RMB/month)
