about ecole polytechnique
¨¦cole polytechnique the no.1 french engineering institute which combines top-level research, academics, and innovation at the cutting-edge of science and technology. its curriculum promotes a culture of excellence with a strong emphasis on science, anchored in humanist traditions. the school produces socially responsible professionals who excel in leading complex and innovative projects which address current and future challenges facing our society.
about the team
the networking research team (https://www.epizeuxis.net) at ecole polytechnique works on modelling, algorithms, architectures, and protocols for new telecommunications services.
of particular interest for the team is
"keeping the internet connected, even when faced with the immense influx of
new devices and new uses¡±.
with the goal of making internet routing more ¡°robust¡± and ¡°adaptive¡±, as well as able to support new services across the internet, the team has emphasized development of advanced routing algorithms, protocols, and architectures for the (immodestly) termed ¡°future internet¡±: the internet of things (iot), including sensor and smart grid networks, personal-area networks (pans), ubiquitous networks, mesh networks, and moble ad hoc networks (manets).
the team is, historically, at the origin of routing protocols for ad hoc networking, by way of having developed the ¡±olsr¡± (http://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/rfc3626/ ¨c standardised in 2003). olsr the predominant routing protocol for ad hoc networks, community and tactical networks. the team is, also, behind the development and standardization of its successor, olsrv2 http://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/rfc7181 - and has produced 20 ietf "standards" (rfcs), contributed to ieee 802.11s, and to itu g9903 standards on routing.
the team¡¯s interests include:
- sensor networks
- routing protocols
- low-power wide area networks
- internet of things
- communication in smart grids
- data center networks and traffic engineering |
