紧急地催了两次，编辑把我的稿件拒了

我的审稿意见出来一周后我催了一次，45天后（前天）我又催了一次。结果英国编辑昨晚回信了。 第一个审稿人意见是小修后直接发表，这个审稿人非常专业，也很懂我的工作，小修错误指出有10处左右，都给出了他认为要修改非常充分的理由。第二个审稿人意见是我的文章原创性很强，很多有用的信息，但需要补一些数据，改一些错误；如果不补的话他建议发在其他杂志（纯生物或者医学基础研究的）上。 最后编辑意见是拒稿。 其实他们要求补充的数据我早做好了统计，已经整理好，但我本打算和另一部份数据一起发另外一篇文章的。还好我另外那篇文章还没来得及出手。 大家说我应该先把这篇文章拿下不？ 但我觉得会影响我第二篇文章，因为我第一篇无论按逻辑还是工作量，那个数据图都不是必须（虽然编辑和第二审稿人不这么认为）；而第二篇那些数据必须要这部分数据。 还有，虽然我老板是三个副编之一，人家也不徇私舞弊，我觉得这样真的很不错  [ Last edited by meizhou on 2009-7-29 at 22:16 ] |

| Sorry for the apparent delay（被我催烦了？）,but as you see from the reviews,I needed to consider the paper carefully.I decided in the end that the absence of any information relating the enzyme activity to meat texture was a major flaw in terms of meat science,since the paper only confirmed the presence of apoptotic activity.If you require the annotated version available from reviewer #2 please tell me and I will pass on the request. |

Reviewer #1: In my opinion the work presented in the manuscript should be accepted for publication once the following points have been addressed. Line 17- 19. State the level of significance. Line 38. The authors do need to indicate that these proteins are substrates for calpains too. Remove the word "special" as it is not required. ..... Reviewer #2: This paper provides some useful information building on previous work on the subject of apoptosis.However the paper has numerous errors of grammar and does not follow the complete guidelines of the journal. There are also a number of times when the authors make statements which are not supported by references or facts. （都没指出来，还是编辑没把具体意见发给我？）语法错误倒不会太多，因为我找外语院专业老师修改过很多遍（其实我的表达都是用已发表文章语句的框架，修改主语和宾语得来的）。 Given there are no actual meat quality measures taken in the study the paper would seem better suited to a different type of journal? The paper presents information that shows that apoptosis occurs a fact that no one would challenge given the definition of apoptosis and the fact that a lack of oxygen leads to cell death.（这句话有些不够专业，至少可能他在这个领域最新的交叉学科功底不够）However in the context of meat science the question of interest is whether or not caspases contribute to tenderisation? This paper sheds no light on this question and thus seems better suited to a more biological focussed journal. Extensive comments and corrections have been made on the paper and a scanned copy is available to aid the authors when they revise the paper for another journal if they would like this to be sent.
