Here, doctors and scientists have the highest international level. More than half of the German Nobel laureates in medicine and physiology come from the Charité, such as Emil von Behring, Robert Koch and Paul Ehrlich. Worldwide, the University Hospital is appreciated as an excellent training centre. The Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin is the joint medical faculty of the Free University of Berlin and Humboldt University of Berlin. The Charité is spread over a total of four campus, which includes around 100 clinics and institutes, which are bundled in 17 Charité Centres. With 15,500 employees, the Charité generates 2.0 billion Euros in total revenue per year, making it one of the largest employers in Berlin. With its subsidiaries, Charité has 18,700 employees. In 2010, the Charité had a 300-year history. |
