ÂêÀö¾ÓÀï Widening Fellowship

What is the Widening Fellowship?
Widening Fellowship is a sub-scheme of the EU Marie Curie Individual Fellowship, which intends to encourage the postdoctoral Fellowship applications with the host institution located in Widening countries including Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. To be eligible for the Maria Curie Widening Fellowship, the applicant must choose a host institution in the above-mentioned EU member states.
https://ec.europa.eu/info/fundin ... idening;typeCodes=0,1;statusCodes=31094501,31094502;programCode=null;programDivisionCode=null;focusAreaCode=null;crossCuttingPriorityCode=null;callCode=Default;sortQuery=openingDate;orderBy=asc;onlyTenders=false;topicListKey=topicSearchTablePageState

How does it work?
The application will be evaluated and scored together with all applications submitted under the Marie Curie Individual Fellowships call. In case the applicant¡¯s proposal fails to reach an adequate place in the overall ranking list, the applicant will have an additional opportunity to be funded by the special funds that European Commission allocates to Widening countries, in case his/her score exceeds a threshold. In other words, having the host institution located in the Widening countries, the applicant will have a higher chance to be funded. Portugal has been the most successful country in winning Widening Fellowships in the last few years.

The host institution and host group
The International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) is the first and by far the only international organization in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology worldwide. INL is equipped with state-of-the-art research facilities with a total investment of 100 million euros.
The host group ¨C Nanomaterials for Energy Storage and Conversion (NESC) ¨C focuses its research on different inorganic materials that can be used in water electrolysis, fuel cells, rechargeable batteries and supercapacitors.

What do you need to do?
Interested applicants who meet the following criteria are recommended to consult with Dr. Lifeng Liu (lifeng.liu@inl.int) for the application. The applicant should develop a 10-page proposal and have it submitted on his/her own before the submission deadline: September 09, 2020, through the EU¡¯s funding and tender portal. The host institution will help selected candidates work on the proposal.
        Having extensive research experience in one of the following areas: water splitting catalysts; noble metal nanostructure synthesis; Si/C anode materials for LIBs; cathode materials for LIBs; alkali metal batteries; solid-state supercapacitors
        Having >=2 year postdoc experience
        Having 10 papers published in SCI-indexed journals as the first author, including at least one published in high-IF journals.
        Preferably having an h-index of >=10. But this is not mandatory.

For the applicant(s) successfully secured the Fellowship, depending on his/her performance and the availability of funding, the applicant may, after two years, have chance to get a track-track staff researcher position at INL.

NOTE:
For those who don¡¯t meet the above mentioned criteria, please do NOT contact Dr. Lifeng Liu. Given the highly competitive nature, applicants who don¡¯t have excellent track-record and their research activities aligned with the host group will have little chance to be funded.
