skype interview for the postdoc position of single-molecule spectroscopy for polymer by 3 people (Dr Carlos Penedo, prof. Ifor Samuel and hr):
1. i present my research summary but is interrupted at 8 min, being suggested to talk about the snom.
2. prof. samuel asks how many time i spent on optical instrumentation, measurement and fabrication; i said that in phd most time spent on fabrication and measurement by renishaw invia, but in postdoc 50% on instrumentation and 50% on fabrication.
3. prof. samuel asks how i collect the tcspc signals; i said i splitted the signals and directed it to a picoquant detector.
4. prof. samuel asks how i use the tcspc for lifetime measurement; i said we made gan cavities of different q-factors exhibiting different photon lifetime.
5. prof. samuel asks something about the radiative- and nonradiative decay; i said, but later interrupted, the we combine the tcspc with the snom for illumination/collection mode and near-field illumination/far-field collection mode for the radiative decay lifetime measurement.
6. prof. samuel asks me the most important parts in contructuring confocal microscope; i said precise pinholes and laser-scanning head.
7. dr. carlos asks about the relation between objective aperture and resolution; i said large objective aperture can lead to better resolution as large aperture can collect more light for better signal-to-noise ratio.
8. dr. carlos ask which solution, water or oil, is used to improve resolution; i said oil because oil has higher refractive index.
9. dr. carlos ask what parameters can be changed to improve the resolution; i said the wavelength of illumination light and refractive index.
10. prof. samuel asks if i do nanosphere lithography myself and how to make si nanopillars to si nanotips; i said yes and annealing si nanopillar to silica and etched by hf.
11. prof. samuel asks how can i manipulate the molecule; i said that i can use dielectrophoresis and plasmonic optical trapping.
12. dr. carlos asked how i link the dna to the nanopillars; i said by using s-bond for synthesized dna and physical adsorption for natural dna.
13. hr asks if i have other interviews and job offers; i said i have.
14. hr asks when i will be availabe; i said april.
15. i asks what are my job content and role; prof. samuel said to build microscopy for single-molecule spectroscopy with magnetic tweezer.
16. i asks if i need to prepare the samples myself; prof. samuel said samples are provided by collaborators;
17. prof. samuel asks if i know why the project focus on conjugated polymers; i said they are for oled and some aggregated polymers will emit light but separated ones cannot;
18. i asks if i can bring family and the medical benefit;prof. samuel said yes and my family is covered by the medical insurance;
19. i asks when i know the result; prof. samuel said it would be next week.
end. 24/02/2016. i was finally rejected. |
