| Visible light absorption can be accounted for the transition of covalent band formed by Bi3+6s2 or Bi3+6s2 and O2p hybrid orbitals towards V3d. The sharp peaks on spectra showed that visible absorption of BiVO4 was transited from forbidden band instead of pure state. It can be estimated that the gap of forbidden band for BiVO4 was 2.4eV from UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectra of the main absorption sides, which means that the majority of the crystals formed was monoclinic BiVO4. |
