The cellulose fibers were embedded into soy protein Isolate (SPI) to fabricate reinforced composite films. Their light transmittance, morphology and mechanical properties were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), tensile test and three-point bending test. Due to the ultrafine diameter of cellulose nanofibers, the composite film showed improved fiber/resin interfacial adhesion. This led to high visible light transmittance even though the composite film had a fiber mass fraction as high as 30%.
