Opportunities exist at all levels. Salary and benefits are competitive and dependent on qualifications. Holding a Ph.D. degree in a related field, the applicant must have a strong background in engineering/science fundamentals, preferably in vehicle engineering, powering engineering, manufacturing engineering, physics, materials, and optics and an aptitude for excellence in teaching. The applicant is expected to establish an externally sponsored research program and teach graduate/undergraduate courses, as well as supervise M.S. and Ph.D. students. The Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) is a leading national university, located in Beijing, China. BIT has been a first-tier top research university in China for more than 60 years. It is one of the first of 15 Chinese universities to run a graduate school and received privileged funding from the Chinese government in “the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th Five-Year Plans.” BIT is also one of the national universities supported under Project 985, a major China national initiative with a goal of developing 35 world-class Chinese universities. The School of Mechanical Engineering at BIT has 313 faculty, 3 state-level key laboratories, annual research expenditures in excess of RMB 480 M (about $70 M), and a current enrollment of 2042 graduate and 1868 undergraduate students.
