[交流] 美国肯塔基大学Abhijit Patwardhan教授诚聘BME 博士生

Description for PhD opening:
The cardiac rhythm laboratory in the F. Joseph Halcomb III, M.D. Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Kentucky has an opening for a PhD student. The position will be funded as a research assistant through a grant from the NIH. The project that this student will work on is a collaborative project with the laboratory of Dr. Anthony Sinai (https://microbiology.med.uky.edu/users/sinai#profileTab2) and is about development of quantitative tools to aid in discovery of drugs to treat chronic toxoplasmosis, an infection of the brain. The project will have two foci: i) development of advanced image processing and machine learning algorithms for high throughput analysis of histological images and to classify objects within these images; ii) application of mathematical and statistical models within a Markov framework to the generated biological data using an iterative approach.

Strong programming skills (Matlab or Python or C) and analytical aptitude is required. Prior background in image/signal processing is not necessary but would be desirable. The ideal candidate will have either electrical engineering or computer science background, but those with strong analytical skills from other engineering or physics backgrounds would also be considered. An earned MS degree is not required but those with an earned MS degree are also welcome to apply.
