The enabling science in much of nanotechnology today is the science ofnanomaterials; indeed in the broadest sense, nanotechnology would notbe possible without nanomaterials. Nanomaterials: Mechanics andMechanisms seeks to provide an entrè into the field for mechanicalengineers, material scientists, chemical and biomedical engineers andphysicists. The objective is to provide the reader with the connectionsneeded to understand the intense activity in the area of the mechanicsof nanomaterials, and to develop ways of thinking about these newmaterials that could be useful to both research and application.
