The efficiency values shown in Fig. 9 are below values reported in literature for nitrogen doped titania films. In this work light scattering through the walls of the electrochemical cell could provoke a smaller ‘effective’ light intensity on the electrode.
Mor et al.  reported an efficiency of about 12.25% obtained for titanium dioxide samples annealed in the range of 580–620 ℃. The authors proposed that the increase in photocurrent and efficiency are due to the increased crystallinity of the nanotube-walls, with the reduction of the amorphous regions and grain boundaries . Khan et al. ) reported a maximum photoconversion efficiency of 8.35% using a chemically modified n-TiO2 produced by pyrolysis of a titanium metal sheet. The authors claimed that carbon atoms replaced some of the oxygen lattice atoms producing absorption of light at wavelengths below 535 nm and reducing the material band gap energy to 2.32 eV vs. 3 eV in rutile and 3.2 eV in anatase .

如图9所示,该实验的效率值低于文献报道的氮掺杂二氧化钛薄膜电极的效率值。在本研究中,光散射透过电化学单元的器壁,可以使光强度对电极产生一个小的作用。Mor报道了使用经过580–620 ℃焙烧后的TiO2,可以得到12.25%的去除率。光电流和效率随着纳米管壁结晶度的增加及非晶区域和晶界的减小而增加。Khan报道了金属钛板高温分解得到的N掺杂TiO2化学修饰电极有最大的光转化效率为8.35%。作者研究表明,C原子取代了部分晶格中的氧原子,可以吸收波长在535nm以下的光,使金红石相和锐钛矿的带隙能分别从3ev和3.2ev降到2.32ev
