山西省科学技术奖励办法
第一条 为了奖励在山西省科学技术进步活动中做出突出贡献的公民、组织，调动科学技术工作者的积极性和创造性，加速科学技术事业及经济、社会的发展。
第二条 山西省人民政府设立山西省科学技术奖，省科学技术奖分为以下五类：
（一）科学技术杰出贡献类；
（二）科学技术进步类；
（三）自然科学类；
（四）技术发明类；
（五）国际科学技术合作类。
第十一条 自然科学类奖授予在基础研究和应用基础研究中阐明自然现象、特征和规律，做出重要科学发现的公民和组织。
前款所称重要的科学发现，应当具备下列条件：
（一）前人尚未发现或者尚未阐明；
（二）具有重要科学价值；
（三）得到国内外自然科学界认可。
第十四条 省科学技术奖中，科学技术杰出贡献类奖和国际科学技术合作类奖不分等级；科学技术进步类奖、自然科学类奖、技术发明类奖分一等奖、二等奖、三等奖3个等级。          
科学技术杰出贡献类奖每次授予人数不超过2名，省科学技术奖每年奖励项目总数不超过200项。

To reward the citizens and organizations that have made outstanding contributions in the scientific and technological progress of Shanxi Province; to stimulate scientists initiative and creative; to accelerate the development of science and technology, economy and society.

The mentioned significant scientific discovery should conform to the following terms and conditions:
(Ⅰ) hasn’t been found or clarified;
(Ⅱ) possessed important scientific value
(Ⅲ) gained acceptance of natural science academic circles at home and abroad
The fourteenth item
No grade was divided in Outstanding Contribution on Science and Technology Rewards and International Science and Technology Cooperation Rewards; three grades were divided in Science and Technology Advancement Rewards, Natural Science Rewards, and Technological Invention Rewards. Outstanding Contribution on Science and Technology Rewards should be awarded to no more than two people each time and the total rewards of science and technology in Shanxi province should be no more than 200 each year.
