PhD Monash University, Smart Design and Manufacturing, Additive Manufacturing

Intelligent design and manufacturing lab (IDML) at Monash University, Melbourne (qs ranking 2020: 58) is actively seeking self-motivated Ph.D. students from all related fields such as mechanical and material engineering, computer science. Our research mainly focuses on the aerospace, bio-medical, energy, and advanced manufacturing industries. It has strong international industrial collaborations with companies and research institutes across the U.S., China, Canada, Singapore, and Australia. The research topics of IDML are in the general field of smart digital design and manufacturing especially advanced additive manufacturing processes. The world-renowned Monash Centre for Additive Manufacturing provides you a good research platform for the success of your future research. There are a few Ph.D. student positions (starting from 2020 July) available in the following topics (not limited to these topics. If you are interested in other topics which are still related to our research field, feel free to contact us): (a) AI aided or data-driven design for additive manufacturing. (b) Digital twin enabled adaptive process planning for additive manufacturing as well as hybrid manufacturing processes. (c) Digital design and fabrication of multiscale functional smart structures and materials. For ph.d. positions, we have the competitive central supporting scholarship.
