2019-Postdoctoral position in biomolecular modeling

The Miao Lab at the Center for Computational Biology, University of Kansas (http://compbio.ku.edu) is looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to work on biomolecular modeling and computer-aided drug discovery. Projects in the lab involve computer-aided drug discovery, method developments for enhanced simulations of biomolecular recognition (such as protein-ligand binding and protein-protein interactions), and multiscale modeling of cellular signaling processes (http://miao.compbio.ku.edu). In collaboration with world-leading experimentalists in medicinal chemistry and pharmacology, the new postdoc will have the opportunity to work on unprecedented simulations and drug design of functionally important proteins that are critical targets for treating Alzheimer’s disease and human cancers. The ideal candidate is expected to have strong publication record in biomolecular modeling and computational biophysics/chemistry. Programming skills (e.g., bash scripting, python and Fortran/C++), expertise in computational modeling (such as molecular dynamics simulations, virtual screening and free energy calculations), and successful experimental collaboration experience are preferred. Applications are accepted until the position is filled. The initial appointment is for one year and the contract is renewable upon satisfactory research progress. Salary and benefits will be based on experience, in compliance with KU and NIH standards. The University of Kansas (KU) is located in Lawrence, KS, which is a vibrant college town with plenty of attractions, outdoor activities, great restaurants and cultural events.
