FIGURES
# Color printing charge (40,000 JPY per page) must be borne by authors. Color figures will appear on the web at no additional charge, regardless of whether or not these illustrations are reproduced in color in the printed version.
# As only one figure caption may be used for both color and black and white versions of figures, please ensure that the figure captions are meaningful for both versions, if applicable.
# Multipanel figures should be labeled with upper-case, bold letters (A, B, C, etc.).
# Avoid subpart labels within a figure part; instead, maintain the established sequence of part labels [e.g., use A, B, C, D, E instead of A, B, C(a), C(b)].
# Microscope photographs must have internal micrometer scale bars instead of magnification in figure legends. Give the length of the scale bar in the figure legend. You cannot use the magnification printed in the databar unless your print of the SEM screen is the same size as the SEM screen.
# Avoid background shading and grid lines for graphs.
# According to Elsevier's Artwork instructions, figure files should be supplied at the correct resolution:
line artwork = minimum of 1000dpi
halftone artwork = minimum of 300dpi

# As a general rule, the lettering on the artwork should have a finished, printed size of 7 pt for normal text and no smaller than 6 pt for subscript and superscript characters. There are instances where other factors in the artwork (e.g., tints and shadings) dictate a finished size of perhaps 10 pt.
FIGURE LEGENDS
# Provide figure legends on a separate page after the reference section in the manuscript file. Do not include captions as part of the figure files or submit them in a separate document.
# Legend for each figure should be in a single paragraph. Please provide a period at the end of each sentence including figure title.
# Avoid using symbols in the legend but describe in English terms such as "closed circles" or "open triangles".
# Avoid bold letters for figure title and part labels (A, B, C) in legend.
# When use of a previously published figure, the original source should be acknowledged in the legend with the citation number (ex. "Reproduced from Smith et al. (1)", "Adapted from Smith et al. (1)", "Based on Smith et al. (1)".
TABLES
# Table should be made as text data by table function of Microsoft Word. Image file, PDF and Excel file are not acceptable.
# Table title should appear at the top of each table whereas description should be placed in table footnote.
# Tables should not be divided into parts, that is, related tables should be numbered separately, not given as Tables 3A and 3B.
# The body of the table should be free of symbols (%, $, etc.) or measurement abbreviations (cm, kg, etc.). Symbols should appear in the column head when they apply to all values in the column, or in the stub column when they apply to all values in the row.
# Images, shading and color are not available in tables.
# Do not break contents of a cell across multiple cells. Cell entries should clearly belong to a specific row and column.
