Steel has such advantages as great intensity, light weight, good ductility, etc, which are widely used in the construction industry both at home and abroad. However, poor performance against fire limits its use, when the temperature up to reach its critical temperature (540 ¡æ), it will lead to the loss of carrying capacity and collapse. However, it is an effective method of protection against fire when using intumescent fire-resistant coating of steel structure. Many factors impact the performance of fireproof coating  , matrix resin ,which is the binder of fire retardant is very important.
This Papers synthesize polyacrylate emulsion by changing the synthesis conditions and the composition , and then added the fire proof auxiliaries, so as to make fire-proof coating. Then we test the viscosity of the resin by Melt flow speed indicator. Test fire-resistant limit of the painting  by Vertical combustion method and observe the burning layer morphology after the carbonization. Finally characterize the fire-proof ability of the painting through  DSC, TGA analysis .
The results showed that we can get polyacrylate emulsion with good stability using following conditions : deionized water, 85 ¡æ, good control of the stirring intensity of each reaction, add the buffer solution, initiator account for 0.55 wt% of the monomer, mix anionic emulsified agents with non-ionic surfactant . By increasing the amount of hard monomer and non-ionic surfactant , and make the amount of initiator take up 0.55 wt% of monomer, thus it can increase the apparent viscosity of the resin, However, the resin can¡¯t rap the gas produced by foaming agent in foaming stage which will help to form a good a layer of intumescent foam.
However , the thermal decomposition temperature of synthetic resin have a good match with the dehydration catalyst, the decomposition temperature of foaming agents, as well as carbonization temperature of the carbonization agents , which ensure the carbonization of the melting system. Thus the carbonized foam layer is five times thicker than original coating , so as to ensure long duration of fire resistance .

But still not long enough for the resin in the foam blowing agent phase-coated to effectively produce the gas to form a good layer of bubble expansion. However, synthetic resin temperature of thermal decomposition into carbon with the dehydration catalyst, blowing agents, as well as the decomposition temperature of the carbonization carbonization agents have a good match between the temperature to ensure melting of the carbonization system, the formation of the carbonized foam layer coating than the original expansion of the five times, fire-retardant long time.
