6. About Prof. K.C. Chan
Professor K.C. Chan is Head of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He has published over 270 papers in international journals (more than 4300 citations), secured more than 15 external research grants (including CERG/GRF and ITF) in the field of materials science and engineering. His research interests include 1) Phase transformation, oxidation and corrosion behavior, catalysis, magnetic behavior, magnetocacloric effect, magnetostriction effect, room temperature plasticity, biocompatibility and superplastic deformation of a number of amorphous alloys and composites; 2) Synthesis, characterization, mechanical and deformation behavior of nanostructural materials, and composites using experiment approach and molecular dynamics modeling; 3) Functional materials and their applications. His recent work on metallic glass, high entropy alloy and other functional materials has been published in many high-impact SCI journals such as Acta Materialia, Chemistry of Materials, Advanced Materials, Electrochimica Acta, ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, Corrosion Science, Materials and Design and Journal of Alloys and Compounds, etc.

7. About the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU)

8. About the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE)
The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering was founded in 1950’s. We are a dynamic and multi-disciplinary Department very strong in applied research. Over the years, the profile of the Department has broadened its scope, and now covers both the industrial and the service sectors.
We have a critical mass of academic staff members who are world-class researchers in the strategic research areas of the Department, and with the research activities supported by state-of-the-art research facilities and centers. 工资待遇比隔壁学校的都要诱人呀……
这个领域不太了解,是不是属于那种偏应用的研究方向呀?
感觉好像很难发文章?特别是IF高一点的文章?

Prof. Chan 课题组目前偏于材料基础研究,这一次的博士生招生主要是涉及metallic glass, high entropy alloy的制备,力学行为及性能调控。
目前ISE部门有比较完善的3D printing, Laser processing, X-ray tomography等的设备,这些设备都可以和metallic glass, high entropy alloy材料结合起来,比如3D打印high entropy alloy和metallic glass。具体研究方向可以参照Prof. Chan 的Scopus 主页: https://www.scopus.com/authid/detail.uri?origin=AuthorProfile&authorId=7406032708&zone=chan

目前3D printing, metallic glass, high entropy alloy领域都是很火的,每周都有数篇新文章出现在Acta/Scripta Materialia,  Nature Communications等期刊上。
