Funded PhD positions in Operations Research at Virginia Tech

代人转发： Funded PhD positions (starting from Fall 2020) are available in Dr. Xi Chen's research group in the Grado Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at Virginia Tech. The graduate program in ISE at Virginia Tech is ranked #4 in 2019 according to U.S News & World Report. Dr. Chen's research focuses on stochastic modeling and simulation methodology, applied probability and statistics, and stochastic simulation experimental design and analysis. More details can be found on Dr. Chen's website. The students will work on developing theory and methodology for simulation metamodeling, simulation-based input screening and sensitivity analysis, and optimization via simulation as well as their applications. Requirements: (1) Undergraduate or Master's students with strong mathematical/statistics background, preferable with degrees in Applied Math, Statistics, or Operations Research, or related majors; (2) Some programming experience; (3) Proficiency in English reading and writing (demonstrated by GRE and TOEFL scores); (4) Strong motivation for conducting cutting-edge research and solving challenging problems.
