Journal of Internet Technology (http://jit.ndhu.edu.tw/ (http://liss.whu.edu.cn/mines2009 Special Issue on Multimedia Services and Security over Internet Introduction With the rapid development of communication technology and multimedia technology, it becomes a reality to hear or watch anything, anywhere. Applications such as audio/video streaming, digital libraries, on-line business transactions, and live camera remote surveillance are widely deployed. Users will be able to access these services anytime, anywhere, while using any computing device in a pervasive way. These multimedia applications are often based on Internet or the convergence of Internet and various other networks (e.g., mobile network, satellite networks). And, they depend on various multimedia devices such as PDA, cell phone, TV, camera, etc. The key challenge in multimedia services is to deal with heterogeneous client capabilities and dynamic end-to-end network and system resources availability, and to ensure satisfactory quality of service (QoS) support to each client. Additionally, privacy and security issues are becoming increasingly important topics in multimedia networks. This special issue aims to expose the readership to the latest research results on multimedia services and security over Internet. It will include a number of related topics, demonstrate pioneer work, investigate the novel solutions and discuss the future trends in this field. This special issue will publish the revised version of some best papers selected from 2009 International Conference on Multimedia Information NEtworking and Security (MINES 2009) (http://liss.whu.edu.cn/mines2009/). The revised version must have at least 40% difference from the conference paper. Topics Submitted papers may focus on architecture construction, algorithm design or hardware implementation. Both theoretical and technical papers are expected. The topics include but are not limited to: • Multimedia content distribution services • Multimedia service protocols • Mobility of multimedia services • Multimedia semantics • Internet TV and IPTV • Internet broadcasting • On-line media consuming • P2P media content sharing • Media generation social networks • Ubiquitous services (e.g., Smart home, E-health) • Copyright protection of multimedia content • Privacy and security in multimedia services • Intelligent content access in multimedia services • Sensitive content detection and filtering • Intrusion detection and prevention • Secure Mobile Internet Devices • Other applications or security issues Submission Papers will be accepted based on peer review and should contain original, high quality work. All papers must be written in English. All information for paper formatting may be found on the IEEE Authors Kit (Paper Formatting). All papers will be rigorously reviewed by at least three reviewers based on the quality: originality, high scientific quality, well organized and clearly written, sufficient support for assertions and conclusion.
