波恩大学Wulf Amelung教授组博士招生信息

The group of Soil Science and Soil Ecology at the University of Bonn invites applications for a position as PhD student in the field of micro-scale spatial patterns of nutrient cycling in soils. The position provides the opportunity for a project using a range of spectroscopic methods to visualise nutrient patterns at soil-plant interfaces, in soil aggregates and in soil pores as well as evaluation of soil-root contact and root nutrient uptake. The project will be established in the frame of the Cluster of Excellence “PhenoRob – Robotics and Phenotyping for Sustainable Agriculture” and the DFG Research Unit “MAD Soil – Microaggregates: formation and turnover of the structural building blocks of soils”. Candidates are welcome from a range of different disciplines, such as soil sciences, environmental chemistry, physics, applied mathematics, and geosciences. Applicants should ideally have strong interest in using micro-spectroscopic techniques in soil samples, such as near- and mid-infrared spectroscopy, electron microscopy and electron microprobe analyses, as well as evaluating these data using novel approaches in statistical pattern analyses. The group of Soil Science and Soil Ecology will support the project with 20 000� for analytical expenses, conferences and student helper support, provided that the candidate can secure a scholarship from the China Scholarship Council. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to obtain a PhD from the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Bonn as well as a supplement diploma from the Bonn International Graduate School (BIGS).
