2019厦门软物质论坛-生物仿生、杂化材料的基础研究以及柔性电子 https://rwz.xmu.edu.cn/smnep2019/index.htm About the Forum Soft condensed matter physics and the related subjects have attracted significant and broad attention across physicists, chemists, biologists, materials scientists and engineers. The occurrence of new ideas, new facilities and modern technologies has opened enromous opportunities in soft matter research. Apart from the “classical” soft materials, such aspolymers, liquid crystals and colloids, the occurrence of new high performance and functional materials, i.e.,bio-inspired soft matters, nanocomposites, and flexible electronics, enriches greatly the subjects of research in this field. As one of the most improtant research subjects inmaterials science,bio-inspired soft materials and inorganic-organic hybrid materials have received increasing attention due to the unique physical and chemical properties. In this regard, the advances in the knowledge of materials formation kinetics and understanding the fundamental mechanisms of crystal growth and self-assembly will lay out the key foundation for further materials designtoward the predictive materials synthesis. Concerning the smart and functional soft matters and hybrid materials, we notice that living organisms produce a wide variety of unique examples, such as hierarchically-structured protein machines for photo synthesis, tooth and bone minerals with superior mechanical property. Over there, the high information content of specialized biomacromolecules (e.g. proteins, peptides and carbohydrates) enables 1) hierarchical organization to assemble scaffold materials and execute high-level functions; and 2) precise control over inorganic crystal formation and assembly, ultimately giving rise to minerals with versatile functions. Inspired by nature, significant efforts been made towards developing the ability to mimic in vivo functions of these biomacromolecules by using engineered proteins, peptides, DNA, sequence-defined synthetic molecules (e.g. peptoids) and other biomimetic polymers. These efforts address one of the grand challenges of materials science—to design and synthesize functional materials thatrival those found in biology and exhibit various potential applications. As a very important application of soft matter research, flexible electronics has become one of the trends for the development of electronic products. As another theme of this forum, we will look into the recent update in the area of flexible electronics, ranging from materials synthesis strategy to the electronics device design, fabrication, and applications. This conference aims to offer a worldwide outstanding forum in the area soft matter. We will use Gordon Research Conference (GRC) like style for reporting the latest discovery and progress in the area of bio-inspired soft matters and hybrid materials, and flexible electronics, which will benefit the worldwide multidisciplinary collaborations. Topics of the Forum The forum will cover in the followingtopics: Biomimetic formation of inorganic (nano) crystals and nanocomposites In situ characterization of bio-inspired assembly and bio-controlled crystal formation Theory driven design of (bio) macromolecules for self-assembly and for controlling inorganic crystal formation. Hierarchical assembly of (bio) macromolecules into nanostructured materials. Synthesis and functionalization of flexibleelectronicsmaterials Electronics device design Fabrication and applications of flexible electronics List of Confirmed Invited Speakers (Names are sorted alphabetically) Fundamentals of Bio-inspired Soft Matters and Hybrid Materials: Chun-Long Chen (Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and University of Washington) Christpher Li (Drexel University) Francois Baneyx (University of Washington) Helmut Coelfen (Universität Konstanz) Huizhang Guo (ETH Zurich) Jim De Yoreo (Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and University of Washington) Jim Pfaendtner (University of Washington) Ki Tae Nam (Seoul National University) Lilo Pozzo (University of Washington) Zhongcan Ouyang (Institute of Theoretical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences) Nico Sommerdijk (Nico Sommerdijk, Netherlands) Robert O.
