Two-year postdoc open position: quasinormal modes theory of nanoresonators and its applications the ¡°light in complex nanostructures group¡± has recently developed state-of-the-art knowledge on the modal analysis of electromagnetic resonators (a recent review on the topic can be found at https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/lpor.201700113) and has launched two first freeware package [1] to compute/normalize the natural resonance mode (quasinormal modes) of nanoresonators and to reconstruct the field scattered by these resonators in their modal basis. we offer a two-year postdoc position to work on quasinormal mode theory and its applications. the theoretical work will consist in refining/improving our present understanding of the domain, essentially starting from the work published by the group last year [2]. refinement will consider important aspects related to the generalization of the method to non-reciprocal systems and improvement of the convergence performance when a small number of quasinormal modes is considered. an important part of the work will consist in test the method predictions against what is happening on the ground. the group enjoys an increasing number of exciting collaborations with experimentalist groups worldwide [3-4], which are interesting in testing the theory predictions or being helped for interpreting their experiments. this will give us the opportunity to explore many physics related to nanoresonators (strong coupling, nonlinear metasurfaces, spatial dispersion ¡). applicants should hold a phd in physics, with experience in computational nanophotonics, including an expertize of comsol multiphysics. candidates should have excellent scientific writing and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with others. interested applicants should submit a cover letter, cv and contact information for 2-3 references to philippe lalanne: philippe.lalanne@institutoptique.fr [1] https://www.lp2n.institutoptique ... pe/lalanne-philippe [1] https://journals.aps.org/prb/abstract/10.1103/physrevb.97.205422 [3] https://www.osapublishing.org/op ... ?uri=optica-6-3-269 [4] https://arxiv.org/abs/1901.03988 |
