[交流] 苏黎世大学材料化学博士位子

We offer a joint PhD position in the framework of the NCCR MaNEP (Materials with Novel Electronic Properties, www.manep.ch). The research work will be focused on the development of nanomaterials that offer an exceptionally wide range of advanced gas sensor applications. While the synthetic work will be performed at the University of Zurich, the device and prototype implementations will be done in Geneva.
Firstly, the main work will be the development, synthesis and characterization of oxide nanomaterials with respect to morphology/structure control and doping. For this purpose, we offer a variety of modern preparative techniques with special emphasis on advanced hydrothermal methods. We aim for straightforward wet chemistry techniques that are appropriate for technical scale-up.
Secondly, the materials will be analyzed with state-of-the-art methods, including X-ray powder diffraction, a variety of electron microscopy techniques, spectroscopy, thermoanalysis etc.
Next, the sensing properties of the materials will be measured for different gases of technological interest. Together with PHASIS SA, we work towards environmental applications and device miniaturization (single nanowire sensors).
At this level, industry contacts will be targeted for possible commercial implementation
You should hold a degree in the field of inorganic, solid state, or materials chemistry, and you should be open for cross-disciplinary teamwork and applied research. Fluent English and an outgoing personality are therefore required to maintain the dynamic collaborations with our manifold partners within MaNEP. A strong interest in preparative chemistry and knowledge in solid state physics are welcome.
