His research group is motivated by multidisciplinary applications of novel optical techniques in cancer research. The central focus of his group¡¯s research is to develop optical imaging tools for biomedical applications related to tumor metabolism, hypoxia and angiogenesis. The research interests of his Lab at the University of Kentucky include but not limited to vascular and metabolic imaging/spectroscopic techniques for cancer biology and radiation biology study. Dr. Zhu¡¯s group will work closely with highly respected experts from the Markey Cancer Center, a NCI-designated cancer center in the United States. The mission of the group¡¯s research projects is to provide dynamic, high-resolution imaging of the tumor bio-energetic and its associated vascular microenvironment in vivo to help cancer researchers understand the mechanisms underlying cancer progression, metastasis, and resistance to therapies.
