【求助】Help: About Environmental Monitoring

Hello, everyone, I am supposed to make an oral presentation about environmental monitoring (mainly related to water) in China. However, I could not find enough information from the webpage of the Chinese Ministry of Environmental Protection. Would you please give me some recommendations or suggestions, i.e. where to find related information? Thanks very much. Here are the main required parts: 1. Main environmental threats in China; 2. What are main activities of Chinese environmental monitoring; 3. How is environmental monitoring carried out (related to water problem); 4. what are the main measured parameters, i.e. biological, physical and chemical; 5. who is responsible for monitoring, especially, i want to know the roles of government, university/institute and companies; 6. what is the data stored? 7. who pays for monitoring programs; Thank a lot for any kind of help from anyone. 1. Main environmental threats in China; See the latest literature about the topic. I can recommend some to you : (1) Blue Skies for China (SCIENCE VOL 321 1 AUGUST 2008) (2)Environmental Problems and Challenges in CHINA(November 15, 2007 / Environmental Science & Technology) (3）China’s environment in a globalizing world （NATURE|Vol 435|30 June 2005） Other papers can be found in some journals, but the three papers are the most suitable papers for this question. 2. What are main activities of Chinese environmental monitoring; On site , laboratory and electric on-web monitoring 3. How is environmental monitoring carried out (related to water problem); According to some national standards 4. what are the main measured parameters, i.e. biological, physical and chemical; Chemical parameters 5. who is responsible for monitoring, especially, i want to know the roles of government, university/institute and companies; Commonly, three categories can be divided: national- controlled, province- controlled and municipal-controlled 6. what is the data stored? Three kinds: Quality Communiqués（publicly); Quality reports; Testing reports. 7. who pays for monitoring programs; Mainly by Chinese government |

Hi vaughn, Thanks a lot for your professional information. However, could you please tell me the sources of this information such that I can find more detailed information. For example, as I know some universities, institutes and companies are also carrying out monitoring work. But I donot know how they collabrate with the Mornitoring Stations from the government's side. and also some other details. The guidance (since 198*) for environmental monitoring on the homepage of Ministry of Environmental Protection seems too old and the new one hasnot been applied...... |

For example, as I know some universities, institutes and companies are also carrying out monitoring work. －－－－－－－－－－－－－ As a routine monitoring task, the data acquired by universities, institutes and companies are not affirmed and can not be used as the evidence for environmental quality. They are only for research or production. There are many guidances released by Ministry of Environmental Protection for environmental monitoring. Of them , the standards are the most important support for monitoring ,you can see in the standards column. |
