Since context recognition is a significant aid in human health care management and biosecurity, countries with rising health care and ecosystem protection cost will benefit immensely from ubiquitous deployment of wearable technology. Unfortunately, battery-related maintenance requirements current wearable technology is the major impediment to the ubiquitous adoption of the technology. By mitigating the battery issues via sensing over solar panels, we will help reap the enormous economic and social benefits of the wearable technology. IDEAL CANDIDATE Context recognition/Machine learning Optical theory/solar energy harvesting Embedded wearable systems Self motivated and highly intelligent Hard working and good (written and oral) communication skills The scholarship is open to both domestic and international students. This entails an academic record that is equivalent to an Australian First Class Honours degree in Computer Science or related areas from a reputed institute. A publication track record in machine learning, context recognition and/or solar cell materials is highly desirable. The scholarship includes: $40K per annum (tax-free) for a period of 4 years; Access to operational budget for research support and conference travel ($10k per annum) Option to secure an additional top-up scholarship that worths up to 14,000 per annum from Data61, CSIRO, under the supervision of Dr. Brano Kusy.
