化学上的Bottom-up和计算机科学中的Bottom-up不一样，如：

Bottom-up approaches rely on the molecular self-assembly phenomenon related to physical and chemical interactions at the nanoscale which assemble primary building blocks into macroscopic structures.

The bottom-up approach involves making nanostructures and devices by arranging atom by atom.

One of the bottom-up approaches, direct growth of CNTs across microelectrodes, has been suggested as a means to fabricate CNT-based devices.

Bottom-up approach 自底向上方法 ; 自下而上法

研究纳米技术的方法可以采取“从小到大”(bottom up)和“从大到小”(top down)两种方式.

bottom-up:

1、是自下而上的制备方式,就是利用纳米材料组装成宏观的功能材料

2、由大尺寸往下做到纳米尺寸.

3、是应用一个原子一个原子或一个分子一个分子创造有机和无机结构.

top-down:

1、是自上而下的制备方式,和上一中正好相反.

2、是由小分子级尺寸(次纳米)运用化学合成以达到寡分子或高分子的纳米级尺寸.

3、方式是利用机械和蚀刻技术制造纳米尺度结构.
