ACerS 11 Best Papers in 110 years

As part of our 110th Anniversary Celebration, ACerS has identified the organization's 11 best published papers to commemorate the past 11 decades of continuous operation.

A total of 171 papers from the Journal of the American Ceramic Society and the International Journal of the American Ceramic Society were considered in the selection process.  These papers were published in the period of 1925 to 2007 and were written by authors throughout the world.  Papers considered included original contributions, reviews, and overviews covering topics ranging from alumina to zirconia.

To identify the best papers, ACerS requested nominations from the entire membership

and received a total of 42 (with 4 papers being nominated more than once).  In addition, ACerS included the 100 top-cited ACerS papers according to the ISI's Citation Index and

the 40 top-downloaded papers for consideration.  Some top-cited and top-downloaded papers were also nominated by the membership.

The ACerS 11 Best Papers Evaluation Team each read and rated approximately 15 papers on the following criteria:  science/creativity, citation, broad impact within the ceramics/glass discipline and overall impact outside the ceramics/glass discipline.  The ACerS 11 Best Papers Core Team then evaluated the Top 25 rated papers and selected the Top 11 papers.
