Thank you for your email, I passed it on to the associate editor who handled your manuscript and have now received their response. We would be willing to consider a revised manuscript that clearly highlights the novel findings and differences between this work and your previous work. We would also require you to provide a point-by-point response to the reviewers comments along with the revised manuscript. Should you instead wish to proceed with an appeal, we would be willing to grant one. However, this would require sending your original manuscript along with the reviewer reports and rebuttal letter to a senior appeal reviewer. They would be asked to provide a recommendation of whether or not your manuscript would be suitable for publication in Food & Function. Please note the decision made by the appeal reviewer will be final.
