The “Advanced Food Manufacturing and Health Laboratory” at School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, Nanyang Technological University is currently recruiting exchanged students. Applicants are expected to have basic trainings in biochemistry, microbiology, or chemical engineering, possess enthusiasm in the scientific discovery, and be interested in developing engineering solutions for real-world issues. Specific projects include but are not limited to developing sustainable urban food manufacturing systems, creating values for agricultural byproducts, manufacturing bioactive carbohydrates, and elucidating substrate-specific microbial communities. Interested applicants are encouraged to contact Dr. Ming-Hsu Chen (minghsu.chen@ntu.edu.sg) and submit their resumes for consideration.

Dr. Chen received his Ph.D. degree in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Currently, he is an assistant professor at the School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering (SCBE) of Nanyang Technological University. Before joining SCBE, Dr. Chen gained research experience at the National Taiwan University, Academia Sinica, and Purdue University studying carbohydrate binding proteins, oligosaccharide manufacture, cereal processing, and biofuel conversion.

Nanyang Technological University, located in western Singapore, covers 200 hectares of land and currently enrolls more than 30,000 students. The university offers an interdisciplinary and international academic environment and is ranked 12th in the 2019 QS World University Rankings.
