soman lab is located within the syracuse biomaterials institute, a central research facility housing equipment for 3d fabrication, polymer synthesis, material and surface characterization, cell culture, and imaging.

phd position (tuition+ta/ra scholarship):
there is an immediate opening for a doctoral student in the area of laser based nano/microfabrication for fall 2019. soman group focuses on developing new advanced manufacturing technologies for a range of biomedical applications. soman lab features a state-of-the-art femtosecond laser, spatial light modulators and several other optical devices.

requirements: applicants should be self-directed and interested in working in a multidisciplinary research environment. a masters in an engineering, physics or chemistry discipline is desired along with good writing and communication skills. students with relative background in optics/laser/photolithography/microfabrication are preferred. hands-on experience in using lasers to fabricate polymeric structures is highly desirable.

potential start date: august 2019.

soman lab急招一名博士研究生，方向是激光微纳加工用于生物医学应用，实验室在雪城大学的生物医学材料研究中心，该中心拥有材料加工、合成和表征等设备，细胞培养和成像设备，同时与纽约上州医学院长期合作生物在体实验。目前实验室拥有基于飞秒激光的多维度加工设备一套，基于数字掩模的投影加工设备一套，多头/多材料打印设备一套，喷涂打印设备三套，主要针对骨组织、心脏组织、血管组织等再生方面的研究以及相关的组织模型芯片的开发。

欢迎拥有工程、物理、化学、生物等背景的有志青年加入，具有光学/激光/光刻/微纳加工的同学优先考虑（**飞秒激光加工）。
