I have carefully examined your manuscript. With regret, I must inform you that your manuscript cannot be accepted or further considered for publication in the Chemical Engineering Journal.

The paper is not acceptable because the overall scientific content and degree of novelty are not high enough for the Chemical Engineering Journal. We seek to publish papers that are particularly significant, original and present more than incremental knowledge. Rather than lengthening the decision process, we now reject some manuscripts without full peer-review when it appears unlikely that the paper would be accepted for publication after full review. I also refer you to a CEJ editorial on the increased rejection rate of manuscripts reporting studies of routine nature (see Chemical Engineering Journal, Volume 139, Issue 1, 15 May 2008: Page 1).

I am sorry not to have better news on this occasion and I thank you for choosing the Chemical Engineering Journal as a publishing medium
