世界排名前50大学,英国曼彻斯特大学,机械土木与航空工程学院实验流体力学课题组,招 2 名 全额奖学金 博士。 其中一名的研究方向为,低雷诺数机翼的空气动力学性能提升,最好会PIV技术。 另外一名的研究方向为,激波边界层交互的被动控制,最好会高速流实验经验。 具体介绍和要求如下文英文所列。有兴趣的同学,请将简历发至学院的钟教授(shan.zhong@manchester.ac.uk) Topic 1: Improvement of wing aerodynamic at low-Reynolds numbers The aerodynamic performance of finite wings, such as those used on UAVs, is often hampered by the low Reynolds number at which they operate. In this project, a new passive flow control method which is inspired by the nature will be applied to models of finite wings. Their aerodynamic performance will be evaluated in wind tunnel experiments. Both surface-mounted sensors and PIV will be used to gain an insight of the associated flow physics. Topic 2: Passive control of shockwave-boundary layer interaction Wing buffet caused by shock-boundary layer interaction affects the aerodynamic performance of supersonic and hypersonic vehicles significantly. In this project, a new passive flow control method which potentially is capable of mitigating the negative impact of shock-boundary layer interaction on wing aerodynamic performance will be developed. The aerodynamic performance of the models will be evaluated in wind tunnel experiments. Advanced flow diagnostic techniques, including high-speed Schlieren, pressure-sensitive paints, PIV, will be used to gain an insight of the associated flow physics. Preference will be given to candidates who have already completed or will obtain a Master degree by July 2018. The candidates are expected to be top performing students in their classes. Research experience in experimental fluid dynamics, either low-speed or high-speed, is considered essential. To meet the university entrance requirement, the candidates must achieve a TOEFL score of 88 or above (with no subtest score lower than 20) or a minimum IELST test score of 6.5 (with no subtest score lower than 5.5). Each successful candidate will receive a full studentship which covers both the tuition fees and an annual stipend of £14,000 for three years, and join a research team which has an excellent track record in experimental fluid dynamics and flow control at Manchester. |
