At the Division of Mechanics of Functional Materials in the institute of Material Science, TU Darmstadt the following research position is to be filled. One Ph.D. position for 3 years, starting at the end of 2018 or the beginning of 2019 Tasks and Qualifications The research topic of the project is multiscale simulations toward understanding effects of amorphous grain boundary (AGB) on coercivity in Nd-Fe-B magnets. We will perform multiscale simulations by integrating first principles, atomistic spin model, and micromagnetics, toward a multilevel understanding of the AGB effects on the coercivity in Nd-Fe-B magnets. This project will disclose the multiscale picture of the magnetic reversal and coercivity mechanism in Nd2Fe14B/AGB systems, and inspire an atomic-scale engineering of local magnetic properties. The motivated applicants with Master degree and strong qualifications in ab initio magnetic calculations or ab initio MD will be considered. Interested candidates can send their applications in one-single PDF file to Dr. Min Yi via email yi@mfm.tu-darmstadt.de |
