PostDoc Position in Biomedical SERS

The Integrative Biomedical Materials and Nanomedicine Lab
(https://www.upf.edu/web/nanomed ) from the Department of Experimental and Health
Sciences of University Pompeu Fabra (DCEXS-UPF) aims to fill one PostDoc positions in
biomedical surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). We encourage applications from
exceptional scientists. Candidates must be experts on Raman spectroscopy and hold a PhD
preferably in SERS. Women are encouraged to apply.
Successful candidates will be highly accomplished young scientists with a strong capacity for
interdisciplinary research who will establish their first research group. They will also be expected
to actively engage in teaching of undergraduate and MSc/PhD students.
The Department of Experimental and Health Sciences at UPF
The Department of Experimental and Health Sciences of Universitat Pompeu Fabra (DCEXS-UPF,
https://www.upf.edu/web/biomed) is an internationally renowned biomedical research center in
Barcelona, Spain. The DCEXS is located at the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB,
https://www.prbb.org/) with six other research institutes, including the newly created Outstation
of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL). With a staff of more than 300 scientists,
the DCEXS combines the creation and transfer of knowledge through the seamless integration of
research and teaching, well in line with the vision and values of Universitat Pompeu Fabra
(https://www.upf.edu/), which holds top-level positions in state and international rankings for
teaching quality and scientific productivity. The DCEXS trajectory of research excellence and
innovation in education has been recognized with the “Maria de
Maeztu” Unit of Excellence award by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.
Research at the DCEXS
Understanding complex biological systems, particularly human biology and disease, requires
interdisciplinary approaches integrating experimental biology, computation and engineering.
The scientific focus of the DCEXS for the next five years is to strengthen and expand our
research horizons under the broad overall scope of molecular biomedicine covered by our
Research Programs. The DCEXS is organized in seven Research Programs
(https://www.upf.edu/web/biomed/programmes) and is supported by cutting edge core
facilities in flow cytometry, proteomics, genomics, microscopy, and scientific IT
(https://www.upf.edu/web/sct).

2. Brief proposal of your future research plans at DCEXS (max. 2 pages)
Please include an estimation of the equipment and facilities needed for your research.
3. CV, which must include the information in the guidelines.
4. Contact details of 3 referees.

Interviews: Candidates may be invited to an Interview held during July at the DCEXS (PRBB) in
