Postdoctoral Researcher in Urban Resource Management at Nanyang Technological University

One (1) position for a postdoctoral researcher is available in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. The research topic is urban resource (solid waste) recovery, treatment and management.

The ideal candidate should have:
- A Ph.D. degree in Environmental Engineering or a closely-related field.
- Previous experience in treatment, chemical analysis, and physical and mechanical testing of waste materials.
- A strong record of referred journal publications.
- Previous experience in resource management, life-cycle assessment, and/or cost and policy analysis is a strong plus.
- Previous experience in proposal writing is a strong plus.
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with graduate students and researchers.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.

The researcher will work with Dr. Xunchang Fei (www.researchgate.net/profile/Xunchang_Fei) who will be joining the university in July 2018. The initial appointment will be one year with possibility for renewal.

The researcher may have potential opportunity to work with the Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute (NEWRI) which has been established in 2008 to unify NTU’s environmental and water technologies efforts. NEWRI with its seven research centers and groups and a total funding exceeding S$200 million, work across a broad spectrum spanning membranes, microbiology and bioprocesses, environmental chemistry and urban environmental management.

In 2017 NTU was placed 11th in the world and the best in Asia in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings. In engineering and technology, NTU is ranked 4th worldwide in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017. NTU’s College of Engineering is among the top nine globally for research output and the 5th most cited in the world (Essential Science Indicators 2017).
