ICAST 2009 The 2009 ICAST Conference to be held in Hong Kong, aims at promoting research, development and use of adaptive structures and technologies through the exchange of scientific results and insight from worldwide leading scholars and specialists. This conference will provide a place for researchers and participants to discuss the recent advances in the highly multidisciplinary field of smart materials and structures. Scientific Program Materials: • Active or field dependent materials • Shape memory alloys • Ferroelectrics and piezoelectrics • Electrorheological and magnetorheological • Electroactive polymers • Electrostrictive and magnetostrictive materials • Multifunctional materials Structural Systems and Solutions: • Adaptive or smart structural systems • Active vibration control and reduction • Active/semi-active/hybrid damping • Active noise control • Shape and position control • Variable geometry structures • Integrated damage detection and • Micro/nano structures/systems • Emboding intelligence in structures Special Issues Selected papers will be published in special issues of Journal of Intelligent Material Systems and Structures as well as Smart Materials and Structures, subject to review procedures of the journals.
