弗吉尼亚理工环境工程招收研究生

see: https://www.aeesp.org/jobs/2530 Job Description: The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, also known as Virginia Tech, invites applications for three Graduate Research Associate positions in Environmental Engineering to pursue research in three directions described below. These graduate students will conduct research in the Sustainable Environment Research Laboratory of Dr. Zhiwu (Drew) Wang stationed at the Northern Virginia Campus within the Washington metropolitan area. The ideal candidates should possess Master or Bachelor degrees in civil engineering, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, biological system engineering, or a related field. Experience in mathematical modeling is preferred. The selected candidates will be supported with monthly stipend ranging from $2,100 to $2,300 besides benefits and full tuition. Biogranules for mainstream nitrogen removal: This project is aimed to consolidate COD and nitrogen removal processes into the microstructure of biogranules for energy efficient and intensified wastewater treatment. Both fundamental and applied research opportunities can be found in this one project. This position is expected to start in August 2018. U.S. citizen or permanent resident is preferred for this project. Fungi-enabled recalcitrant pollutants removal from contaminated environment: This project harnesses fungi as a novel biological tool to remove various types of environmental pollutants that cannot be handled by bacteria. Candidates with experience in fungal cultivation will be considered in high priority. This position is expected to start in August 2018. Advanced biological phosphorus recovery for sustainable municipal wastewater treatment: This project involves extensive fieldwork in local utilities and thus requires the graduate student to drive between multiple experimental sites and work closely with industrial partners. The candidate with good hands-on ability and aspiration to finding solution to real-world engineering problems is preferred. This position can be available as early as summer 2018. |
