A very narrow range of plants can absorb N2 in the air  via nitrogen-fixing microorganisms, most plants absorb inorganic nitrogen like NO3- and NH4+ and a small partion of urea and amino acids via the roots from the soil.

N2 from the air is absorbed by few plants using nitrogen-fixing microorganisms, and inorganic nitrogen from the soil is absorbed by most plants through the root system, including NO3- and NH4+, and a fraction of N2 can be absorbed in the form of urea and amino acids.
