About the Job Dr. Robert Turesky is recruiting an postdoctoral position to develop and validate biomarkers of carcinogen DNA adducts. Research requires derivatization chemistry for tagging biomarkers to enhance analyte detection by LC/MS; mass spectrometric characterization of biomarkers in complex biological matrices and application to trace quantitative analysis of biomarkers in vivo. Hands-on-training in liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry of biomarkers, sample preparation and workup, analytical chemistry, bioinformatics, LC, MS, and MS/MS techniques, employing triple quadrupole, ion trap and high resolution MS instruments for DNA adducts and protein adducts. The post-doctoral associate is trained by and works in conjunction with their faculty mentor who determines the training agenda. The appointee is expected to participate in preparation and presentation of data to study investigators. The appointee is expected to author, co-author, and otherwise collaborate on reports, conference papers and publications. A successful candidate will demonstrate strong work ethic and productivity. Positions are generally limited to a period of one up to three years, depending on funding. Qualifications Required qualifications: Candidates must have PhD or equivalent and demonstrated experience in chemical syntheses. Preferred qualifications: PhD with research in Bioanalytical mass spectrometry. Prior experience and training in chemical syntheses, analytical chemistry; sample workup, chemical biomarkers, cell culture techniques, experience and hands-on-training in liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry of biomarkers, including, urinary biomarkers, protein- or DNA carcinogen adducts. Experience with LC/MS employing nanoLC and nanospray sources are desired.
