layman abstract 是不是必须要提交

wiley旗下杂志，随接收函一起发来的一段话让交一个layman abstract。请问这个是不是必须要交，可以不写吗？ P.P.S.: Please supply us with a "layman's abstract" describing your work. This abstract should be sent to us by e-mail in a separate text file, be written in the third person, be substantially less technical than the formal abstract, and be at least 250 words. You should explain the importance of your work in a broader context, appealing to a non-specialist scientific audience. Please also suggest an eye-catching image from your manuscript, preferably in the size 1080 x 600 pixels (width x height). We may use this information to highlight your research to a wider audience on our in-house research news website Advanced Science News.
