本文综述了聚乙烯醇的发展历程和国内外的研究现状。从聚合方法和引发方式两个方面介绍高聚合度聚乙烯醇的制备，以及合成低聚合度聚乙烯醇的方法的研究进展。同时从醇解过程着手简述了聚乙烯醇解工艺和醇解设备的研究和应用状况，并对我国聚乙烯醇行业的发展提出建设性的意见。

This paper reviews the development history of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and the domestic and abroad researches. It also introduces the research progress of preparation methods of PVA with both high polymerization degree and low polymerization degree from the perspective of polymerization methods as well as initiation modes. At the same time, from the angle of alcoholysis process, the research of alcoholysis technologies and equipments of PVA are briefly introduced. Finally, constructive opinions was offered to the development of China's PVA industry
