>> They stood on the sheer mountain side appearing to be at a 90-degree angle in front of picturesque scenery
If you felt unsteady standing on steps at the back of your school photo, spare a thought for these Swiss university students.
This spectacular photo shows 14 students appearing to defy gravity by standing on the side of a sheer mountain face 2,400m high after a grueling climb.
With the picturesque Swiss Alps in the background, the adventurous group were snapped while perched at a 90-degree angle near the summit of Pierre Avoi, east of Geneva.

The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Western Switzerland (HES-SO in Swiss) Valais-Wallis campus was trying to top last year's viral video that showed extreme snowboarding and biking on the way to class.
The students climbed the tough mountain with several guides and a four-member camera team that brought along two drone cameras to film an accompanying video.
Wooden steps and a sign bearing the university's name were then brought in by helicopter and drilled into the side of the rock so the back row could be sen the the photo.
Securely attached to the top of the mountain by ropes, they then abseiled down the rockface and posed standing sideways on the mountain like it was the ground.

The 14 students were selected after practicing abseiling down the side of the school's more than four-storey building in Sierre.
A huge print of the stunning photo was then unfurled over the same side of the building and quickly shared across social media. |
