https://jobs.rutgers.edu/postings/60625 A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Peng Jiang (https://www.sas.rutgers.edu/cms/cbn/peng-jiang-lab/37-peng-jiang-research/340-research-goals). The research theme of the laboratory is on investigating cellular and molecular basis of human neural development and pathogenesis of neurological disease utilizing human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs). We focus on (i) establishing patient-derived and disease-specific hiPSCs; (ii) creating hiPSC-based in vitro brain organoid and in vivo human chimeric mouse brain models to study pathogenesis of neurodevelopmental diseases; and (iii) preclinical study for hiPSC-based cell therapies utilizing animal models of human CNS injuries. We have been using a combination of multidisciplinary techniques in our research, including stem cell reprogramming, electrophysiology/patch-clamp recording, imaging techniques, molecular/cell biology (including CRISPR/cas9 technology), biochemistry, pharmacology, microarray and RNA-sequencing techniques, transgenic and surgically induced animal models, and animal behavioral testing. We are seeking an individual who is highly self-motivated and has a strong passion and commitment to neuroscience and stem cell research. The applicant must have a record of innovative scientific accomplishment in graduate and/or post-graduate studies, as evidenced by the applicant’s PhD thesis and/or by first authorship papers in peer-reviewed journals. Researchers with deep experience in electrophysiology/patch-clamp recordings are encouraged to apply. Additional experience with stem cell culture, imaging techniques, viral preparation and infection, intracerebral cell transplantation, and animal work are desired. The postdoctoral trainees in the lab are expected to independently design and execute incisive experiments and interpret results, present scientific work for internal or external communication, and to prepare manuscripts and author papers in high profile journals in areas relevant to the research directions. To apply, please submit a CV, a cover letter stating research interests and qualifications, and references with contact information to peng.jiang@rutgers.edu or apply via the weblink: https://jobs.rutgers.edu/postings/60625 |
